Uniquence — Variable Data for Step & Repeat

One of the advantages of digital printing is the option to make each single item unique. This can mean just adding a serial number but can also extend up to personally addressing the customer with text and images. But achieving that is easier said than done: Enhancing the PDF with variable data before imposition requires specialised applications and workflow tools which might fundamentally change the existing and well-established processes and experiences of the printing company. Furthermore a huge investment in software and training is needed.

To personalise an imposed PDF however does not require any changes to the existing work processes and is independent from the document creation, preparation and the used imposition software. But to do this with the prevalent programs is almost impossible, because there are already several items per PDF page and so the normal approach of one variable data record per page does not work.

Uniquence was especially developed for exactly this purpose. It detects automatically repeating items on the final imposed PDF and places the variable data like text, images or barcodes accordingly. This extrem pragmatic approach protects existing investments in software and knowledge. The following video will explain the easy and fast enhancement of a printing sheet with variable data and shows the advantages of Uniquence — the new software for VDP (Variable Data Printing) for Step & Repeat.
